Reds Pick Up Option On Dunn

The Cincinnati Reds announced today that they have picked up the 2008 option on LF Adam Dunn. The move will make Dunn the highest paid player on the Reds' roster for next year at $13 million dollars.

The Reds also picked up the 2008 option for 1B Scott Hatteberg for $1.85 million dollars and the 2008 option for C Javier Valentin for $1.35 million dollars.

The Reds also declined the $3.5 million dollar option on RP Eddie Guardado. Eddie is still trying to make a comeback from his shoulder surgery 13 months ago. General Manager Wayne Krivsky said the Reds are interested in trying to bring Eddie back at a lower salary if the opportunity arises.
